For Posterity

I'm sure I'll write a more emotionally evocative piece later, but for now, I'll be happy to preserve this snapshot of our week. It was a wonderful trip.

Wednesday - St. Louis to Aubrey/Savannah - first day left at 7am. Stopped every 2 hours for potty, gas, etc. Ate PB&J for lunch. Ate Whataburger once we crossed state line into TX. Stayed with Jenna, Craig, Allie and Charlie. Got there at 7pm.

Thursday - Aubrey/Savannah - kids went to VBS and moms had adult time. SO nice. Kids got along great. We went to Chic-filet for lunch (thank you VBS) and then had lasagna and salad and garlic bread for dinner. Finished off the day with swimming at their amazing neighborhood pool.

Friday - Aubrey/Savannah to Houston to Katy - woke up early and drove to Houston. Visited the Children's Museum (thank you Free Target Day) and then out to Katy to see the Whitacres and neighbors.

Saturday - Visited Cimmaron neighborhood pool, La Centerra shopping and then James Coney Island for the kids dinner. Adults met at Vida Loca for drinks and dinner. Tuna, Lisa, Jennifer, Kevin, Susan, Karina, Diana, Liz, Rezki, Kat, Greg, Stephanie and Josh. We went to Baker Street Bar and Grill at La Centerra afterward. It was a great night.

Sunday - Elida and Robert's Day. Swimming at Cimmaron pool. Katy Mills and Rainforest Cafe for lunch. Mega Trampoline and souviners

Monday - Karina came with us to Johnson Space Center, picnic lunch and then to Stewart Beach in Galveston. We ate at Joe's Crab Shack on the seawall and let the kids play on the playground.

Tuesday - packed up and headed to Austin. Ate PB&J i the car. Did Barton Springs with Tiffany and her boys. On to Zilker Park playground, the train and icecream. Drove to Leander and stayed with Chad Francois. Girls tried venison for the first time. Chad was a great host, complete with glow in the dark toilet seat.

Wednesday - packed up at drove to Dallas. Had lunch at a very cool McDonalds
playland. Drove to Arlington to go to Six Flags over Texas. Rode Texas Chute Out, Crazy Legs, Mini Mine Train, La Vibora, Judge Roy Scream, Wile E. Coyote Grand Canyon Blaster, Cloud Bouncer. Checked into hotel. Ordered pizza. Sat poolside and ate pizza and swam.

Thursday - Arlington to St. Louis - ate at hotel, brought some snacks to the van. Ate subway for lunch and Mcdonalds for dinner. Very good drive home.


8 days on the road with the girls was a lot to ask of them, especially with us staying in 4 different places, visiting 7 cities and seeing 33 friends. They did so great and I was so proud of them.
