I can't fix everything. Mostly because the world isn't perfect. Things are going to be broken. Life is going to be messy. I can just do my best to teach my children how to navigate and how to trouble shoot.
This summer, so far, has been pretty much exactly as I had expected. That's not a bad thing. I'm a mom. I know my kids well, and they really didn't stray too far from my expectations.
But our adventure, now that's something else entirely. It's going to be something unlike anything we'd ever done before. First of all, it's just us. No extra children, no extra babies, no playdates. Just us. It will require some work. It will require getting along. We are going to have to take care of each other.
It won't be easy, but it will be worth it. And I really think it might be the best thing that's ever happened to us.
That isn't such a bad thing, is it?
